The signup screen is organized as a matrix similar to that of a spreadsheet. At the top is the title of the bridge group. The next row shows the name of the game and if you mouse-over the name a popup will show location, time and master point limits associated with the game. The central portion is a list of the players and their status and at the bottom is a set of buttons and selectors that allow you to make changes to your signup status and to invoke other functions of the website. The line containing your name is highlighted.

Starting at the left of the screen is a set of buttons that contain numbers that identify the players. These buttons are all the same color if player master points are not being used, except the button for the last player to make a change is green. If master points are being used the buttons are color coded to indicate the player's master point level. Also, when master points are being used, there is an option to color the button white if the player is a Life Master.

Next is a list of player names. The names in the list are color coded to indicate the type of player as shown here.

Regular player
Substitute player
Website administrator

Each website is allowed up to nine guest players. If your bridge group uses this feature the guest players will be shown below the names of the players that belong to the group. They will be named "Guest n" where n can be from 1 to 9.

Above the list of players is an announcement in red that administrators use to display current information.

At the bottom of the list of players is a Contact Information button that, when clicked, provides the ability to email any of the players and can display their phone numbers. This is an optional feature controlled by the administrators. Players have the option to be included in this list.

To the right of the player names is a set of columns, one for each day of play, that contain the color-coded playing status for each player.

Each status column is headed and footed with blue rectangles that contain the date and, under that, the day of the week and the number of tables that are assigned for that day of play. If all the allowed tables are full the day name and the table count will be shown in red. If an administrator has blocked a day of play to signups, the background color will be red instead of blue.

The last row of the status section contains the name of the player that will be affected by any signup actions. This row also contains a set of selectors at the bottom of each status column. These are used to select the command to change your status for each day of play as described below. This line is called the command line.

If master points are being used the color-coding for the master point levels is shown on the next line. The colors shown are used in the buttons to the left of the player names. White buttons designate players that are Life Masters.

The next row shows the name of the game and if you mouse-over the name a popup will show the location, time and master point limits associated with the game.

The following row contains a pair of selectors used when signing up a partnership. The Partner selector is used to select the partner's name and the Direction selector allows selection of a requested direction of play.

Status Rectangles

The signup status of each player is shown in the color-coded rectangles to the right of their names. The following diagram shows the variations possible in these rectangles and their meanings.
Open - The player is not signed up for play.
N Not Available - The player cannot play because of being out of town, sick, etc.
A Available - The player has signed up but there are not enough players to make a table.
P-20N Playing - The regular player has been selected to play.
P Playing - The substitute player has been selected to play.

The number following the A or P status letter indicates that the player is signed up with a partner and is the number in the button to the left the partner's name. If the partnership has requested a direction it is shown with a letter. N indicates North-South and E indicates East-West. If there is no direction letter the partnership has not indicated a preference.

The bottom section contains buttons used during the signup process as described in the following.

Edit Your Player Information

Clicking this button brings up the Edit Player Information screen where you can change your database settings (password, phone, email, etc.).

Using the Signup Screen

If your bridge group is playing more than one game you can select which game you want to join by selecting it from the selector just above the Direction selector. Be sure you do that before making any signup changes.

The row following the date row at the bottom of the status area is the command row which is used to edit a player's signup status. It contains the name of the player whose settings will be changed and a selector box for each day. Players can edit themselves and any of the guest players. The player to be edited is selected by clicking the button to the left of their name. After editing a guest player you return to editing yourself by clicking the button next to your own name.

To change the sign up status for any given day click the down arrow of that day's selector box and then select one of the options. After you have selected the status of all the days you want to change click the "Save Changes" button. Before you save, you can undo any changes you have made by clicking the "reset" button.

Below the command row (and the game related row if its there) are two selector boxes that allow the player to indicate a partner and a table direction to be used when signing up. These selections apply to all the changes made in the command row when the "Save Changes" button is clicked.

There are four action commands that can be selected in the command row pulldowns that have the following effects.
A Sets the players status to Available. If a partner is selected they will also be set.
N This sets the players status to Not Available and removes any existing settings, including those of any partners.
R This removes any existing settings, including those of any partners.
C This command allows a player to change their settings without altering their signup sequence priority. It is used to alter a player's partnership settings. It can add, remove or change a partner or change a requested table direction.

The partner selection box allows a player to select a partner from a list of all the players or to select None if a partner is not desired. The selection made in the direction selection box is effective only if a partner is selected.

When you submit your changes the program on the server recalculates the draw for the entire sheet. Your changes may cause some A's to change to P or vice versa. If you created an A status and caused the number of A's to be enough to fill a table, then your change will appear as a P and the other A's will change to P's. If you removed a P, then other P's, the last that signed up, will be changed to A's. The other players affected will be notified of the change if they have activated that option.

Since this is a dynamic process, all the players that have signed up for the next day of play should keep an eye on the website to monitor for changes. The website administrator(s) have the ability to change the settings of any player, which is another good reason to keep an eye on the settings on the sheet.

Below the last name in the players list is a button labeled "Contact Information". Pressing that button will take you to a page where all the players are listed along with their phone numbers and their email addresses. Below the table of players is a set of buttons that will allow you to send an email to various selections of players. The buttons are self explanatory except for the one labeled "email selected" which is associated with the set of checkboxes to the left of each player's name. To send an email to selected players first use the checkboxes to select the players and then click the "email selected" button.

The server remembers your login as long as you don't shut down your browser, so if you don't want someone with access to your computer playing with your settings, either shutdown your browser or use the "Logout" button when you are finished.
